The Company
Our client, who owns over 25 skilled nursing facilities and growing and is based in San Diego County, California, is looking for a skilled and experienced Controller.
The Controller will lead and oversee the accounting functions of a skilled nursing organization. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Controller will manage the accounting functions and financial reporting and maintain the organization's overall accounting systems, procedures, and policies. The position requires at least 2-3 days at the corporate office.

Responsibilities
- Implementing and monitoring approved financial policies and procedures to reduce unpredictability in the areas of achieving financial targets, stability of cash flow for operations (including debt service and capital acquisitions), and quality of services delivered
- Provide senior and executive management with consistent, accurate, timely, and relevant data for outcomes measurement and regulatory reporting
- Ensure the established closing schedule is met and the monthly and annual financial statements/budget are compiled for submission to the CFO and various other parties
- Ensures the Monthly Reporting Package support is submitted on a timely basis to the CFO, which entails review and approval of journal entries to ensure the accuracy of computation in compliance with GAAP, together with evidence of proper supporting materials
Candidate Background
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) certification is preferred
- 5+ years of experience in accounting and 3+ years in a management role
- Skilled Nursing, Senior Living, or Healthcare industry experience is required
- Demonstrated and proven track record of working in a rapidly expanding and dynamic work environment
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment and growing company
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and experience with financial reporting
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work under pressure
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information in a professional manner
