Executive Search for an Executive Director
CASE STUDY
Executive Director for an Independent, Assisted Living, and Memory Care Community in Orange County, California
SCENARIO
LM Hurley & Associates conducted an exclusive engagement search for an Executive Director for an award-winning luxury-style community offering 180 apartments of Independent, Assisted Living, and Memory Care. The opening was created when the Executive Director was promoted to" Operations Specialist" to support special projects, acquisitions, special assignments, and help to build systems. The client searched for a suitable candidate for over 90 days but could not find a high-caliber Executive Director who was a match. The client wanted not only a talented and proven ED but also someone who had that little extra to bring something unique to this high-revenue community with a complex campus. |
SOLUTION
When Kisco Senior Living engaged our services, we had previously performed successful searches for them, so they trusted us to deliver, and we understood their culture and high-quality standards. The goal was to identify an Executive Director who had led or was actively leading a community of similar care levels, number of apartments, and budget of $18mm. The client was open to relocation, so we launched a state-wide search to identify this top-tier Executive Director. Matching the client's vision for the community's new leader also called for:
RESULTS Of the 133 prospects we contacted and screened, we interviewed 11 candidates. After evaluation, we narrowed the field to the three top candidates we presented to the organization. Our client selected all three individuals to interview and ultimately chose a candidate who exceeded the client's expectations. He closely matched the search specifications and formed a strong cultural connection with the executive team, which pride themselves on working with integrity, kindness, creativity, and passion. An offer was extended and accepted within 84 days of engagement. The new Executive Director relocated to Rancho Santa Margarita and joined the organization with over 20+ years of senior living and hospitality service management. The candidate has a bachelor's degree in Executive Management and led his prior senior living community to earn the coveted Malcolm Baldrige Bronze Award. |
